Our Production
Why do do few bottlers speak of their production? For us, the production department is the heart of our business and is our reason for being. By inviting you to see for yourself how we produce Copán Dry, we are not giving away industrial secrets, but rather sharing with you the pride we take in our work and our product. So, allow us please a moment to share our pride with you:
Water

We begin with water. But not just any water; purified, crystalline water. We do not entrust the task of purifying it to others; we do it ourselves.
First we pass the water through a flocculation process to achieve the crystallinity that we require. Then, to guarantee its purity, chlorine is applied to the water prior to passing it through microset filters and activated carbon. After demineralizing the water, we pass it through a final 0.5 micron filter before exposing it to ultraviolet light and ozone.
Finally, the water is carbonated prior to bottling. One of the distinguishing features of Copán Dry is the moderate carbonation we use, and many of our customers comment favorably on the fact that it is not overcharged with gas.
Flavors
As we purify the water, we are also cooking our flavors. Yes, "cooking", not just mixing. While others limit themselves to purchasing and mixing prepared concentrates, we continue to cook our flavors like our founder did over half a century ago. It is worth mentioning that we use pure Honduran cane sugar, not cheap corn sweetener like the big companies. Nor do we add caffeine to our flavors, a common but hardly healthful practice. Once fully cooked, the result is called jarabe (syrup) and is ready to be formulated and bottled with carbonated water. We cook six syrups, one for each flavor: banana, cream soda, strawberry, orange, pineapple, and punch.
The bottles

We also carefully wash all returned glass bottles. Like any modern bottler, our products are also available in non-returnable containers, but our traditional returnable seven ounce glass bottle has always symbolized our company, and we take special care with it.
Bottling
Once the carbonated water and syrup are ready, all that remains is to bring them together in the bottle. We have not one but two new bottling machines, one for non-returnable plastic bottles, and another for returnable glass bottles. Every bottle is sealed with a cap that reads "Copán Dry, Pride of Honduras". And to understand why, all you have to do is open one and try it for yourself. Enjoy!
